What is Trauma-Sensitive Yoga?
Any type of trauma can overwhelm a person’s ordinary coping mechanisms or survival responses leaving one to experience the world and the body as unsafe. Trauma-Sensitive/Trauma-Informed Yoga is a body-based offering that can support students in learning to reconnect with and feel safe within their bodies. It is an empirically validated therapy and can be complementary to other therapeutic modalities.
Through grounding, movement, breathing and mindfulness techniques, Trauma-Sensitive Yoga can support your journey while teaching empowering self-regulating tools for a more robust and resilient You. Through my compassionate energy, choice of language and understanding of trauma and the nervous system, I teach from a strength-based perspective believing that people already posses the abilities and resources to heal and experience meaningful change. Together we create an individualized program to tap into those resources to support you and your goals.
